From my early days as a potter in Upstate New York to today, creativity has always played a pivotal role in my personal and business pursuits. After a successful 30 year career in both Landscape Design and Interior Decorating, I began my journey into the fluid arts as a way of releasing my creative juices.
Having studied many contemporary artists, I started developing my own style of “less is more” using a combination of existing and personally developed techniques. From “The No Bra Zone” (a euphemism for the free flow of design, color, and shape), I began teaching and sharing my techniques with those that desire to similarly release their own creative spirit. I am so honored to share in your journey.

Day 1

SWIPING 101
8.30am - 11.30am
"The Swipe" is where my fluid art journey began. Let's learn the down and dirty basics of this technique. We will start by learning how to mix different paints and achieving their proper consistencies utilizing a combination of fluid paints, medium body paints, and pigments. We will also address what pouring mediums to use and why, as well as how to create cells without the use of silicone. If time allows, we will be doing two canvases. The first with a horizontal swipe and the other using a multiple swipe technique.

LANDSCAPE SWIPING
2:00pm - 5:00pm
In this class, you will create two different landscape paintings using Golden Fluid paints, Amsterdam medium body paints, and TLP pigments. We will learn how to mix different density paints to the perfect consistency for your landscape. Multiple techniques will be used e.g. swiping (learn how to use that paper towel as your paint brush), flip cup your sky for the perfect cloud formations, and ribbon pours for your ocean. We will also go over ways to embellish your paintings after they have dried. Learn how to add sea grasses, straighten that horizon line, maybe add an island or two. Landscape swiping is one of the most versatile and satisfying classes.

MULTIPLE TRAVELING STRAIGHT POUR with Negative Space
2:00pm - 5:00pm
In this class we will be working with a beautiful earth tone palette of reds, oranges, browns and our beloved gold. I will teach you how to mix and manipulate thicker paints. We will learn about different pouring mediums and each of their benefits, layering your cup, and manipulating your composition for the perfect straight pour. Let me teach you the importance of negative space in your painting, and having a place for your eyes to rest. This is one of my favorite techniques and I can't wait to share all my secrets with you.

LET'S GET GRUNGIE
2:00pm - 5:00pm
I guarantee you BIG FUN in this class. You will be walking away with an original COZ Creations painting that you will get GRUNGIE with. We will be embellishing a 12x12 wood cradle board painted by yours truly. Learn how to add texture to your paintings using a color wash to kick that color up a notch, playing with distressed sprays, stencils, molding paste, steam-punk trinkets and so much more. Embellish to your heart's content and learn a thing or two along the way. Let's end this weekend with a BANG!!
