Nate Bright Art

Fortunately, I was exposed to art very early in my life. My mother was a painter too - working with oils, acrylics and watercolor - and she encouraged me to explore my artistic side as well. I dabbled with everything… did anyone else go through a macrame phase in the late 70’s, early 80’s? Drawing, writing and painting have always been my primary expression, and I’ve taught many ‘paint and sip’ classes because I love inspiring people to create.

When I discovered fluid art in 2018 I was instantly obsessed. I knew from my very first flip cup that I had found my style. The possibilities are endless! I love to experiment, and I feel a bit like a mad scientist every time I step into my studio. My favorite question to ask is ‘What if I…’

Besides two specific fluid art techniques, in Nate’s class you will learn how to build a color palette that has depth, contrast and balance, and tips and tricks to using his favorite tools: a split cup and a spinner.

ART LAB : HOW TO EXPERIMENT, TROUBLESHOOT & FIND YOUR OWN UNIQUE STYLE

2.00pm - 5.00pm

ART LAB : HOW TO EXPERIMENT, TROUBLESHOOT & FIND YOUR OWN UNIQUE STYLE
I love to experiment. Every time I step into my art room, I feel like a mad scientist. I may combine different ingredients, change colors schemes, try different techniques- even combine different techniques. But I always begin with a plan.
In this workshop, I will teach you how to teach yourself.
I’ll challenge you to use colors that are out of your comfort zone, try new ingredients, use weird tools - and maybe even invent new techniques! We’ll discuss how to diagnose what didn’t work; how to repeat your successes; and how to put YOU into your art.
Put on your lab coats - it’s time to be FEARLESS!

ART LAB : CELLS & LACING

8.30am-11.30am

Is there anything more mesmerizing than watching cells appear? It’s like alchemy - the perfect mix of science and magic. For many of us, it’s one of the reasons we fell in love with fluid art.
In this workshop, we’ll start with the science: how cells form; the difference between pearl cells and boulder cells; why cell activator creates lacing; smart ways to layer your colors to get more cells; and more. We’ll also get our gloves dirty by practicing with different ingredients, consistencies, and techniques.
Let's make some magic!
