Garrick is a mixed media artist with a specialty in fluid acrylic pouring. Garrick has been exposed to the arts, music and creative spaces all of his life. He is an accomplished musician and artist. Garrick most notably completed in and won a national arts television show on the Discovery+/ HGTV network "Meet Your Makers Showdown" and was the featured artist in an art gallery in Cary, NC. Garrick's work can be found in several restaurants in the Durham and surrounding areas of North Carolina as well as the personal walls of many around the globe.

Garrick Brown is a native of North Carolina and proud graduate of North Carolina Central University. He currently resides in Durham, NC affectionately known as the "Bull City". Garrick is a life member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Fraternity of America, Inc.

Garrick's paint journey begin in 2010 when he began painting wooden pieces for friends and various members of fraternities and sororities in college. In that time he has honed his talents and developed several niches in art.

I pour my heart out every time I paint. Creating a unique piece every time is therapeutic and quite frankly earthly nirvana... Art speaks to my spirit and feeds my soul!"

DAY 1 July 21, 2022

INTRO IN BLOOMS 
(Beginner/ Intermediate)

09:00 - 12:00PM

In depth guide to getting started with blooms. In this course we will focus on paint consistency, mixing pigments, pouring medium, cell activator, common errors, tilting, spinning and blowing out the bloom by mouth and with a hairdryer. We will touch on color theory and brands of paint as well. A few blow-dryers will be available for the entire class. Feel free to bring your own supplies (i.e. hairdryer, paints) but you don’t have to. Each student will leave with a mini paint kit of some colors we mix in class (2 ounce bottles safe for flying) and at least one beautiful piece of art to take home so save some room in that suitcase!

Are you ready to be blown away? We will be using a wide variety of products and additives to achieve beautiful swipes (including floetrol, elmer’s glue, silicone and more). We will discuss canvas prep and paint consistency (thin paint vs thick paint) and an unbelievably flash, I mean fast way to mix your paints. Together we will learn how to manipulate and control the cells, single and double swipes, all of which will be FUN FUN FUN! Whether you’re a beginner or experienced pourer you’ll be gleaming with new ideas in a flash! We will end the instruction time with a short portion on cleaning & resin/ varnish prep as silicone will be used in this course.

Meet & Greet Reception

06:30 - 08:30PM

Meet at 'The Studio' in the Host Hotel for some Nibbles and the chance to meet your fellow students and the Artist Teachers. The Cash bar will also be open. The event will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday evening.

How to stretch your own canvases

12:30 - 1:30PM

Jerrys Artarama will be onhand Thursday from 12.30 to 1.30pm to demonstrate 'How to stretch your own canvases' This is a free event to all students who have booked classes with the teachers.

DAY 2 July 22, 2022

THE FLASH - EVERYTHING SWIPES

09:00 - 12:00PM

Are you ready to be blown away? We will be using a wide variety of products and additives to achieve beautiful swipes (including floetrol, elmer’s glue, silicone and more). We will discuss canvas prep and paint consistency (thin paint vs thick paint) and an unbelievably flash, I mean fast way to mix your paints. Together we will learn how to manipulate and control the cells, single and double swipes, all of which will be FUN FUN FUN! Whether you’re a beginner or experienced pourer you’ll be gleaming with new ideas in a flash! We will end the instruction time with a short portion on cleaning & resin/ varnish prep as silicone will be used in this course.

LET'S SWIPE IT UP A NOTCH" Choo Choo!

Jump aboard this party train… We will hit the ground running and talk recipes, centered around the bloom recipe and embellishing the swipe. This is a bit of a hybrid, intermediate course. Knowledge of the bloom technique is a plus, but not a requirement. This class focuses on transfer bloom swipes, ringpour bloom swipes, and the negative space swipe! Bring your party shoes and leave some space in that suitcase for art & goodies to take home.

GALA DINNER

07:30 - 12:00AM

Please join us for a sir down buffet dinner with a cash bar available. Once the food has been eaten and whilst the drinks are flowing we will open the floor up to an Artist Q&A. After this there will be a raffle of Art and Gift Baskets chock full of products donated

InSPIRALING Art Performance by COLESCOLOR

12:30 - 1:45PM

Come see multiple canvases created and watch him pour over 50 canvases at a time. These limited edition canvases will them be available too purchase the following day. This event is can be purchased even if you haven't booked classes elsewhere

Wrap Party

It's a WRAP!! Come and celebrate the end of this wonderful 3 day event, offsite at TK's in Addison. We will have an open bar from 8pm to Midnight and a cash bar thereafter. Nibbles, DJ, Photo Booth and dancing. Students are responsible for their own travel to and from this event.
